Andrew Bird comes to SNFestival with his latest album, on June 24th!

March 19 2019

The American indie rock singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, violin virtuoso, and whistler will be performing in Greece for the first time, at Summer Nostos Festival organized by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation. Bird recently announced the release of his forthcoming album My Finest Work Yet, which is expected to come out on March 22nd.

The album title is a clear indication that the wry humor that Bird is known for remains a central feature of his songwriting. Two singles have already been released, “Bloodless” (November 2018) and “Sisyphus” (February 2019), the latter inspired by Greek mythology. Bird shares that the track, “is about being addicted to your own suffering and the moral consequences of letting the rock roll.” Two more songs (“Olympians” and “Archipelago”) are also inspired by Greece, and Bird claims that his new work is dominated by a spirit of optimism.

Bird picked up his first violin at the age of four and spent his formative years soaking up the classical repertoire completely by ear. Since the beginning of his recording career, he has released fourteen studio albums and six live albums.

This June, he begins his European tour with scheduled performances at the Barbican Center in London, Le Trianon in Paris, and Funkhaus in Berlin among other places.

On Thursday, June 24th, Andrew Bird will visit Summer Nostos Festival!
